Competitive soccer
RYSC is a competitive soccer club, which expects a higher level of commitment for both child and parent. Recreational soccer leagues, such as our own RYAA rec league, are designed for fun and fitness. Recreational teams are formed to consist of balanced playing levels and allow for all players to play, regardless of skill level. Players are encouraged to play different positions on the field to enhance their awareness and skills on each position to help move up to the next level. Competitive soccer teams are made up of experienced and skilled players. New teams are formed as a result of tryouts. Competitive players usually stay on the same team for many years, where every player is growing and developing with the team. New players can try out for an existing competitive team when positions are available.

RYSC soccer season
RYSC teams are involved in soccer activity nearly year round. The official soccer season is in the fall and kicks off in September. This is the season that team ranking counts. The official season ends mid-November. CYSA also offers spring soccer. The spring season runs from April to mid-June and is an informal season. Many teams use this season for continued conditioning and to tryout new players.
Many RYSC teams choose to participate in winter leagues, either playing outdoors or indoors. This is an added cost and the cost varies depending on the activity the team participates in.
The summer months are an opportune time to play tournaments. Tournament participation is a team by team decision and also incurs additional costs.
Traveling Teams
RYSC teams play about half of the games at Home and the rest Away at the opponent’s field.
