Q: How do I know what team my child should try out for?
A: To determine which team is appropriate for your child, first
look at your child’s birthday to see what group he or she falls under. You may review the Age Matrix below.
If your child belongs, for example, to under 11, you will want to tryout for the team that plays in that group. Please refer to our Teams page for a list of teams and contact the team staff to schedule a tryout.

Q: My child didn’t make the team. Now what?
A: The coaches will assess your child during the tryout period. During this time the coaches are looking for players to have the skill level and potential for playing on a competitive team. If your child is not ready for competitive level, your child can play during the fall in our recreational season. Most of our club players develop their skills on our rec teams! Click here for more information about RYAA Rec Soccer League.
Q: My child was invited to play. What do I do next?
A: The Team Manager will put you in touch with the Club Registrar. You will be given all the forms and instructions about registration, what your fee covers, what it does not cover. A new player will complete a Club registration form, a CYSA Form, will have a photo taken, and will need to bring a copy of his/her birth certificate for age verification.
RYSC Parents are first on our teams. Without their love, support, and encouragement our players and teams could not succeed. As a RYSC parent you should understand the goals of the club and follow our guidelines to help your player develop and grow. Parents are more than just chauffeurs for players to and from practices and games, and they are more than an assigned snack person. Parents are invaluable as cheerleaders on the sidelines and as a RYSC parent you will be expected to come out and show your support!
Team parents are also an important voice in decision making for the team’s growth and activities. Their input assists the team staff to make decisions such as, which tournaments to participate in. Parent meetings are as frequent and informal as weekly chats following games. The teams’ managers organize informational meetings and make announcements. Any parent can volunteer to take on this role. Other duties a team parent is involved in is field set up and break down, ensuring our field is clean and safe for play, participating in field work and maintenance days, and volunteering to coach or referee in RYAA’s rec league. All this helps assure that RYSC/RYAA can continue to support soccer in our community.
